††Submissions are now being accepted for the fifth annual Northeast Texas Poetry Contest. Poems about our region of Northeast Texas are due to Dr. Andrew Yox, 91²Ö¿â Professor and Honors Director,†by Friday, August 24 at noon. Poems should be e-mailed to ayox@ntcc.edu.
††The contest includes both a student and adult category and cash awards will be given. Student prizes include $400 for first place, $300 for second place, $200 for third place and $100 for fourth place.††Adult prizes are $200 for first and $50 for second. All ages are welcome to participate and there is no cost to enter.
††"How many times are we asked in life 'where are we from'? The Northeast Texas Poetry Contest challenges all who participate to arrive at an engaging answer," Yox said.
††The purpose of the contest is to enliven our sense of the surroundings, the people, the culture, and/or the history of ††Northeast Texas. In order to win, contestants must read their poems in person at the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts on the NTCC campus on Friday, August 31 at 11 a.m.
