The 91ֿ Foundation recently established a perpetual scholarship to honor the contributions of longtime cosmetology instructor Debbie Lovelady. The Debbie Lovelady Honorary Cosmetology Scholarship will provide a $500 award to a student majoring in cosmetology each fall semester.

“Ms. Lovelady impacted the lives of so many cosmetology students, including my own. She taught me when I was seeking my cosmetology instructor license and then I worked alongside her as an instructor prior to her retirement. Her patience and kindness really left a mark on the program and I am honored to help continue that legacy,” Necah Posey, NTCC Cosmetology Instructor, said.

The scholarship was recently announced at a cosmetology advisory board meeting and Lovelady was presented with a plaque to honor the occasion. She is pictured (center) with Posey (left) and Dr. Miles Young, Dean of Workforce Education (right).

Anyone interested in contributing to the scholarship fund can do so by visiting  or by contacting Nita May, NTCC Director of Development, at 903-434-8113.

“I would challenge Ms. Lovelady’s former students who got their start at NTCC to pay it forward and give to the scholarship. We would love to see the fund grow to the point where we can offer even more scholarships to future cosmetologists,” Posey said.
