Former 91ֿ (NTCC) students, Michael Rodriguez (now at Texas A&M-Commerce) and George Burrows (now at Texas A&M College Station), recently had several papers published in scientific journals. With his mentor, Dr. Chris McAllister, Michael published a paper on coccidians in Comparative Parasitology, a paper on millipeds and centipedes of East Texas in The Southwestern Naturalist, and 5 individual papers on an Amphibian fungus in two frogs in Arkansas, a fish monogenean parasite in Oklahoma, an unusual tapeworm in an Arkansas bird, nematodes in Arkansas snakes, and on goldfish in an Oklahoma stream in the Proceedings of the Oklahoma Academy of Science.
George coauthored papers on the Amphibian fungus and millipedes and centipedes. This accomplishment very rarely happens to community college students and they are to be commended for doing this research while enrolled at NTCC this past year under the tutelage of Dr. Mac.
