The 91²Ö¿â Foundation hosted its annual Scholarship Brunch on Friday, Nov. 1st in the Student Union Building. More than 200 donors, scholarship recipients and guests attended. "We were thrilled by the turnout for this year's Scholarship Brunch. Our Foundation awards more than 150 scholarships every year and most of those are funded by individuals and area businesses. It is wonderful to give the students a chance to meet their benefactors and thank them in person. It's just a really special time for us," Nita May, NTCC Director of Development, said.
A brunch buffet, sponsored by Richard and Margaret Perryman, was served by Great Western Dining. The meal was followed by a short program. Dr. Jon McCullough, NTCC Executive Vice President for Advancement, served as emcee. Dr. Ron Clinton, NTCC President, gave remarks on behalf of the college. Dawson Hill, an Associate Degree Nursing student from PIttsburg, spoke on behalf of scholarship recipients.
"Thanks to your kindness I have personally been able to focus more on my academics and personal growth while working on my nursing degree. We, as students, are truly grateful for your belief in us and our potential and our commitment to completing our education. Some of us, without the support of you all, would not achieve our goals or would have been intimidated to the point of not starting at all. I cannot stress enough how thankful we are," Hill, recipient of the Phineas & Shaney Hassell Nursing Scholarship, said.
Prior to the event, students gathered in the Whatley Center for photos. Formal photos and those from during the brunch can be viewed/downloaded for free at www.ntcc.edu/24brunchphotos. The Foundation would like to thank the NTCC Advancement team, administrators and other staff who volunteered their time and effort to make the event successful.
