Eagles freshman pitcher Hannah Holovach was recently named the Region XIV Eastern Conference Pitcher of the Week after winning six straight games at the Murray State Softball Festival in Oklahoma.

Holovach, a freshman from Mansfield, picked up the award after picking up victories for the Eagles against Rose State, Carl Albert, Connors State, Eastern Oklahoma, Frank Phillips and Neosho during tournament play in Tishomingo, Oklahoma.

?It feels great to get this award, especially after all of the hard work we have put in as a team,? Holovach said. ?We worked together as a team and fixed the things we needed to fix and it all worked out great for us as we got these wins.?

Holovach went into the tournament with a record of 4-1 but left Oklahoma 10-1. During play in Tishomingo, she gave up just 2.78 runs per contest while also striking out 26 batters in 32 innings of action.

Hannah not only dominated from inside the pitching circle during the tournament, she was also a force at the plate as well as she led the Eagles in batting average at .571.

Holovach finished the tournament with 12 hits, including two doubles and a home run. She also had eight RBI and scored three times while striking out just once in 21 at-bats.

?It?s great to see Hannah get this kind of recognition,? Eagles head coach Jay Terry said. ?She is a tough player who works hard every day. It?s great to see that kind of commitment pay off.?
