Continuing Education offers exciting health science courses this fall

The 91²Ö¿â Continuing Education department will offer three exciting health science programs this fall. Students interested in launching their careers quickly can choose from Certified Nurses Aide (CNA), Phlebotomy Technician, or Pharmacy Technician.

The CNA class begins August 26th and lasts six weeks. The program meets face-to-face in the evening to accommodate busy adults. The cost to attend is $750 and financial aid may be available. The course series designed to prepare students to take the state certification test with NACES. The 2 courses prepare students for certification as entry level nursing assistants providing a level of knowledge, skills, and abilities essential to provide basic care to residents of long-term care facilities. The Phlebotomy Technician Program begins August 27th. This 8-week course is taught in a hybrid format (instruction is online and skills/clinical completed in

 person). The cost is $750 for the class or $1,000 for the class plus on-site clinicals. Financial aid may be available. This course series is designed to prepare students to take the national certification test with the American Society of Phlebotomy Technicians (ASPT). Phlebotomists typically work in hospitals, commercial laboratories, physician's offices, blood banks, pharmaceutical firms, home health agencies, research institutions, hospices, public health clinics, prisons, and visit patient's homes. They wear medical scrubs and gloves to perform venipunctures and skin punctures to obtain a blood sample for laboratory testing. To learn more visit or to sign up.

The Pharmacy Technician class begins August 26th and lasts 16 weeks. Coursework is 100% online while clinical hours are completed in-person at a pharmacy. This certificate program consists of 288 contact hours of lecture, lab and internship training for students to become Community Pharmacy Technicians in a retail pharmacy environment. Instruction emphasizes the practical application of pharmacy mathematics, pharmaceutical terminology, drug packaging and labeling, dosage preparation, inventory systems and management, and customer service. The cost is $1,500 for the class only and $2,000 for the class plus on-site clinicals. Financial aid may be available. To learn more visit or to sign up.
