NTCC receives $60,000 grant from Pioneer Foundation

Fred Markham, Executive Director of the Texas Pioneer Foundation, recently presented the 91²Ö¿â Foundation with $60,000 to support the NTCC Work Scholarship Program. The gift came in two separate checks, one for $50,000 to be used as a matching gift for scholarships, and the other for $10,000 to be used as program support. NTCC receives $53,000 in matching funds for Work Scholarship Program

91²Ö¿â recently received a check for $53,000 in scholarships from the U.S. Department of Education. Nita May (left), NTCC Director of Development, and Dr. Jonathan McCullough, NTCC Executive Vice President for Advancement are pictured receiving the gift. This grant was awarded as matching funds for gifts received for the NTCC Work Scholarship Program. Around 100 donors have given more than $85,000 this year to support the innovative program that allows students to work in the summer to prepay for their college education.

SWEPCO gives $1,000 for NTCC Work Scholarship Program

Jennifer Harland,†Manager of External Affairs for AEP SWEPCO†(center), recently made a $1,000 contribution to The 91²Ö¿â Work Scholarship Program. Dr. Jerry Wesson Honors Scholarship established at NTCC

Scott Wesson recently gave $10,000 to create the Jerry Wesson Honors Scholarship at 91²Ö¿â. †The scholarship is in the honor of Scott?s father, Dr. Jerry Wesson, for his legacy in higher education. When the college opened, he was an original member of the college?s administrative staff as the first Dean of Student Services. † Later, he served as Vice President of Student Services for many years. Thomas and April Bliss give $2,000 for NTCC scholarships

Thomas and April Bliss recently presented the 91²Ö¿â Foundation with $2,000 for scholarships. The Sharon Bliss Memorial scholarship is in memory of Thomas? mother,†who had a long career as a respiratory therapist.†This scholarship†benefits a student studying health sciences at NTCC. The Bradyn Dawn Loy Memorial Scholarship†is†in memory of the Mount Vernon High School student and friend of the Bliss family.

Bradley Syd Norwood automotive scholarship established at NTCC

The 91²Ö¿â Foundation recently received a $10,000 donation from the Gloria Norwood estate. The funds established the Bradley Syd Norwood Memorial Scholarship, which will provide scholarships to students in the Carroll Shelby Automotive Technology Program. Gloria, who was a resident of Naples, planned the gift in her will. Her late son, Bradley, attended the NTCC Automotive Program in the early 1990s. Mount Pleasant Fine Arts Club gives to NTCC Work Scholarship Program

The Mount Pleasant Fine Arts Club recently gave $500 to support the Work Scholarship Program at 91²Ö¿â. The gift, which is in addition to their annual scholarship, will be matched by two grants for a total impact of $1,500. NTCC Foundation raises $15,000 for East Texas Giving Day

Many thanks to everyone who supported the NTCC Foundation on East Texas Giving Day on April 24. Thanks to the generosity of friends and NTCC employees, more than 80 donations were received for a total of $14,647.19 during the event. Another generous donor gave after the deadline to make an even $15,000 raised. This more than doubled the amount raised in 2017. These funds will go a long way to providing scholarships and special projects for student organizations and additional donations continue to pour in.
