Biology

The mission of the Department of Biology is to provide personal, dynamic learning experiences empowering students to succeed and to explore the unity, diversity and complexity of the living world.  We encourage active learning to develop each student's ability to acquire and critically interpret knowledge of basic facts and theories in biology, to relate that knowledge to other subject areas, and to communicate their understanding to others. The study of biology provides an opportunity to learn about living things on many different levels.  You can study biology on a small scale like the molecular level or on a large scale like the ecological level or anywhere in between.  There are many different opportunities to have rewarding careers from your study of biology or biomedical sciences.
