In the fall of 1997, 91ֿ began the Welding Program in the Industrial Technology Building. It started with 12 Gas Metal Arc Welding students (MIG Class) on part-time bases. Every semester the college was getting more new interested students in this program. Therefore, in the fall of 2000, the college decided to make a full time welding program offering more and different kinds of welding courses at different times to support all welding students five days, and four nights a week (Monday through Thursday).
The mission of the NTCC Welding Program is to bring new prospective welding students to take a or complete certificate 9 months, (Structural Plate WLDG Certificate) 1 Year, (Pipe WLDG Certificate) 1 ½ Years, or (A.A.S) 2 years Associated Degree Program with no or limited welding skills to become Professional Welders in the areas of:
SMAW - STICK,GWAW - MIG, GTAW - TIG, OXY - FUEL WELDING AND CUTTING, BRAZING WELD, COPPER WELD, CAST IRON WELD, ALUMINUM WELD, STAINLESS STEEL WELD, BLUE PRINT READING, SHIELDED METAL ARC WELDING OF PIPE AND TUBING: 1-G, 2-G, 5-G, and 6-G POSITIONS.

The welding Program counts with two over twenty years experienced that can train any person that wants to take the advantage of these courses. Once the welding student has competed the one year certificated welding program, the NTCC Welding Faculty will place them on the most high paying welding jobs after they have had passed their respective professional welding test.
Professional Welding
Professional Welding is a big issue not only at Northeast but state and national wide. The purpose of this program it's to feed the welding needs of the. The Power Companies such as TXU now LUMINANT and many others have not only to build new power plants, but repair their old boilers and a lot of welding structure to keep up with increasing demand of electricity to feed everybody's needs. Therefore, once a welding student has finished at least the one year certificated program, he should be ready to perform multi-skills welding.
